Will Mophead or any other hydrangeas live in complete shade?

Q.  Will Mophead or any other hydrangeas live in complete shade? The end of our house where we want to plant them is always shaded. If not, can you suggest something that will live in complete shade?

A.  I would not recommend using any hydrangea where there is total shade. There is just simply not enough light for bud set. There are many ornamental plants such as aucuba, daphne, or other shade-loving plants.
