What other leafs are there?
Q: I have three hydrangea plants, but they are not the Oakleaf. What other leafs are there, and how do I get it to turn blue or pink? or is that the type? I have them planted under a high pine tree, where the ground is acid. but they don't change color. My largest one is white and will turn to green.

A: There is another native hydrangea called hydrangea arborescens.  One of the most popular cultivator of this species is AnneBelle. It is white only that fades to a green. The other types are hydrangea macrophylla and these are the blue, pink and white of the Asian type.   The leaves on these are mainly smooth with serrated edges.   This is the traditional mother's day type hydrangea.
