| The blossoms can be removed after July. |

Q: I would like to know if the dried blossoms should be cut off a hydrangea plant and should they be cut way back at the end of the summer? A: The blossoms can be removed after July just below the bloom (deadheading). Do not cut the plant back in late summer because they have set flower buds for next year. The best time to cut back is in June by removing old stems to the ground. This allows new growth to fill in during the summers growth. This growth will set a bud for flower the following year. |
