How do you advise me to dry and preserve...
Q.  How do you advise me to dry and preserve hydrangeas from my garden? I'd love to have some in the house out of season.

A.  There are many opinions on how to dry hydrangeas. In our yard we cut the bloom when they are within a week of total maturity. We cut 15 inch long stems and put them in 3 inches of water in a cool basement after stripping all the leaves off the stem. Remove water in a week or 10 days and by this time they have dried. This avoids the flower drying too quickly and it dries more naturally.
